Peak load

I work in a building that houses about 5,000 people. It's nice that we have two coffee shops that serve us and save us from darting out to the Starbucks across the street. Problem is a very long line forms around 9am when most people come in. I was stading in line next to a manager and told him...maybe they ought to consider raising prices? Or start charging peak-load pricing. I bet some of these people in line would realize it's not really that important to get their coffee during that window of time.

Monday

Finished reading "Waltzing with a Dictator" by Raymond Bonner the other day. Interesting read about the Marcos dictatorship. Most people of my generation already have a good idea about what went on during that time in the 70s and mid 80s. Reading...seems like it takes so much time now.

Imagine if I live in a house and have to take care of other stuff like things breaking down, mowing the lawn, and all other stuff that comes with home ownership. I understand now why some people give up the space and decide to live in condos.

Time

Time. It's a funny thing. It's also relative. 20 minutes seems like a long time, while 2 years just flew by like that. It's been 2 years since I got out of grad school. I am better compensated now than when I was teaching three sections of stats but what I do now in terms of brainwork is nowhere near as demanding as grad school.

One thing I dont have a lot of these days is time. Time to read, time to do things I used to have time for. Right now I have four books that I am trying to read none of which I am making much progress on. Time.
